Based on 1:12 ratio for AeroPress. ~15% of water is absorbed by grounds.

Steps

  1. Setup (Inverted)

    Place AeroPress inverted (plunger at bottom, numbers upside down). Insert plunger to the 4 mark. Rinse paper filter and set aside.

  2. Add Coffee

    Add 18g of medium-fine ground coffee to the chamber.

  3. Add Water

    Start timer. Pour 90g of water at 92-96°C. The water should be just off the boil for light roasts, slightly cooler for dark roasts.

  4. Stir

    Stir gently in a North-South-East-West pattern for 10 seconds to ensure even saturation.

  5. Steep

    1:20

    Place the filter cap with rinsed filter on top. Let coffee steep until 1:20.

  6. Flip & Press

    2:00

    At 1:20, carefully flip AeroPress onto your cup. Press slowly and steadily for 30-40 seconds. Stop when you hear a hiss. Add 100-130ml hot water to taste for an Americano-style cup.
